“Indian 2” Hits Theatres on July 12: Kamal Haasan Clashes with Akshay Kumar’s “Sarfira”
The much-anticipated film “Indian 2,” directed by S. Shankar, has finally hit the box office on July 12. This cinematic spectacle features legendary actor Kamal Haasan, alongside Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in pivotal roles. The movie has been eagerly awaited by fans across India for several years and is a pan-India release. For those unaware, “Indian 2” is the sequel to the 1996 action blockbuster “Indian,” where Kamal Haasan played the iconic role of Senapathi. However, despite the star-studded cast, “Indian 2” disappoints, failing to create the magic one would expect from Shankar and Kamal Haasan.
Plot of “Indian 2”
The film severely lacks a compelling story. Corruption has engulfed society, causing widespread distress. Amidst this turmoil, four young activists start the hashtag “ComeBackIndian,” urging Senapathi to return and eradicate corruption. When Senapathi reappears, he brings chaos into many lives. Overall, the film feels like an extended promotion for the ancient martial art Varma Kalai. Watching it, one realizes that captivating cinema requires more than just impressive visuals; it needs a strong narrative.
Direction in “Indian 2”
Director Shankar is renowned for crafting larger-than-life films, but this time he seems to have missed the mark. While the film boasts grandeur in every frame, it falls short in the story department. As a result, it becomes unbearably dull, and by the end, you are left wondering when it will finally conclude. The themes explored in the movie are reminiscent of scenes from “Aparichit,” “Gabbar Is Back,” and “Jawan.”

“Indian 2” promises a grand spectacle but ultimately fails to deliver, leaving audiences yearning for a stronger story and better execution.
